Just received mine today to replace an older Acer display that is going on to other uses in my house. Installed the base no problem, hooked it up, no problem and off and running. First thing I noticed is that it is much brighter and crisper than the LCD screen it replaced. I am not an expert on color reproduction and all that. It seemed fine right out of the box. I did some minor tweaking in my NVIDIA control panel to tone down the brightness by about 3% but other than that, nothing.
I play an online multiplayer game and I immediately noticed how much smoother this was and everything looked almost new. My old LCD was still a pretty good 5ms monitor, but this one transitions so much better.
Other notes:
-Using a DVI-D connection to my computer – I have a lot of cables lying around and for me the included VGA cable goes into the electronics recycle bin
-This monitor uses a power “brick” but it is so small, it’s more like a power “mouse”
-The base is great, my old monitor used to shake when the washing machine went into spin cycle. This one doesn’t move a bit.
-For the money, if you are looking for a good monitor without a ton of features, just want to plop it on your desk and be done with it, this is a great deal.
-This monitor appears to be exclusive to Amazon.
-It’s a very nice design, very pleasing to the eye.
-I have this side-by-side with a very high quality HP display and I think the two are comparable. With my old display, when I switched from one to the other, it looked like going from a shiny new car to an old rusted beater.

Others have already mentioned the thin bezel, good viewing angle and colors etc, so I will mention the “things I wish were better about this product”.
CONS:
1) The white is retina-searing, blinding white. Everything else is a good color and contrast except this hellish white. I have brightness at 3/100 and contrast at 0/100 now and f.lux running, to get a tolerable level of white. The other colors are still great despite this low level of contrast.
2) I can hear constant static beneath the audio when headphones are plugged into monitor. Persists despite reinserting at varying depths. Whenever audio comes through so does that constant buzzing static. Loud enough to be annoying within the first 5 seconds. This problem does not occur if I plug headphones directly into motherboard.
3) The stand is higher than is technically ergonomic (Optometrists recommend the center of the screen should be slightly below your eye level to decrease eye strain) with no way to correct except to raise your chair up, which squishes your thighs into the underside of the desk. The monitor base stand allows for pivoting of angle up and down at the joint where stand and monitor join, but the joint where desk and stand join is stiff and has no pivoting capabilities.

Positives:
1. Good viewing angles.
2. Nice large size is comfortable for daily use.
3. Excellent color and brightness
4. Excellent price for the size and quality
Negatives:
1. I got the 24 inch and the pixel density is a bit low at 1080p. I can notice pixelation when I sit close to it
2. Stand does not allow for up and down height adjustments, only tilting
3. 1080p/60hz is not good for gaming, nor did I buy it for gaming. Try to go with 1440P, 144hz if you want a monitor for gaming and your computer can drive it.
4. Only one mode where you can adjust your settings and the brightness is difficult to adjust from there. Too many steps and the buttons are annoying to use. Not a problem if you don’t really need to change your brightness.
The Col –
Needed a cheap, compact monitor to bring back and forth to college and not be too worried about. I was using my TV as a monitor prior to purchasing this, and it’s night and day compared to the TV (obviously). This monitor is extremely thin, and has a really slick, edge-less design. The colors of this monitor are amazing, better than anything I’ve used before. I guess that’s what you get with an IPS monitor. I am running a GTX 1070 so this monitor is a bit low-end in comparison to the card, but it is working great for application. The screen really is the most vivid and beautiful screen I’ve ever used. Even the 60Hz refresh rate is amazing, because I am used to gaming on an xbone with “cinematic 30-fps”. I feel like for the price, there is no better option. Once I am out of college, I will upgrade to a 1440p IPS paired with a 144Hz TN monitor, but for a college student this is more than sufficient.
Some minor things I don’t like about the monitor:
-The external power brick is annoying. I would rather have it built into the monitor and have the monitor be a bit thicker.
-The stand isn’t the greatest design. It is not convenient to remove either.
-Buttons are hard to push. In combination with the less than great stand, pushing the power button causes the whole monitor to tip and usually it rotates or moves when I do this. Not the end of the world, but it is annoying to have to hold the monitor down when pushing the power button.
But even with these few reservations, I think this monitor deserves a 5-star rating simply because of the performance and quality you get for the money. I paid around $120 for this monitor which feels like a great deal for what I got. The screen itself, like I said, is amazing, vivid and clear. 10/10 would buy again.

I figured I would wait awhile before making this review. It’s for the 23.8 inch R240HY bidx
I feel I should mention the size because Amazon has this completely stupid policy now of merging reviews for what they think are similar products, so you never know if you’re reading the review for the product you actually are researching, or the larger or smaller model with may or may not be similar in reality.
In my opinion this monitor has good color quality, blacks are black enough, it can be tuned to be not too bright/blue (although most people seem to love screens as bright and blue as technically feasible).
It’s great for gaming, the screen looks larger than it is because the bezel is small. It’s very thin.
No dead pixels (my last 1080p Acer had one stuck red pixel, this was ages ago though).
I have hopes it will last longer than my last one because of the LED backlighting.
Main complaint is ghosting or trailing when scrolling on websites with dark font and colors that aren’t white. There’s a site I visit more often than others, and when scrolling the text ghosts pretty bad, it’s black text on a kind of blue/grey background and the ghosting is basically negative, as in it ghosts light almost white under the black text when scrolling. Hard to explain I suppose but even a literally ancient HP LCD monitor I have from Windows Vista era does not do this.
Really griping I suppose and if you want consider this a five star review. I just don’t give five stars unless I have no complaints.
Acer is always a great value brand if you’re willing to consider it might not last forever. Great specs and features for the price as always
VESA mount would also be nice, if just so that I could get a second of exact same model for portrait use as a second monitor
